"Do you know what we get to do today Brooks? We get to play baseball." - Jim Morris in The Rookie
My Favorite movie is "The Rookie". I love the above quote, I love that when Jimmy Morris gets down about playing the minor leagues and thinks of going home he sees a little league team play and then realizes the reason he's there. He loves baseball, he was meant to play it. It's a privilege to get to play baseball!!
We love baseball at our house. We love the Cardinals whether we see it on TV or at the stadium. We have loved watching Rob play baseball since he was a little boy through high school. Now we love watching Sam's baseball games. It's pretty much a huge part of our life from the end of January to October. But we ask the question today, will baseball ever begin, will the fields ever dry up, will the rain ever quit falling, and last but not least, should we build a boat?
So far this season Sam has missed 2 games he should have played in, 2 games he should have umpired and Katy and I have missed about 20 hours of concession stand work, all due to RAIN!
And not to exclude RJ, he is a coach on Sam's team and also hates it when the games are rained out.
Finally today It looked like we would play, the beginning game of the County Tournament.
But no, it of course too, was rained out late this afternoon.
The next game is scheduled for Thursday but yes it is supposed to rain yet again on Thursday.
Wouldn't it be nice if the the forecasters could be wrong this once????
